I welcome you to the Roxby Downs Scout Group Homepage.

Roxby Downs is located approximately 600 kms north of Adelaide in South Australia our closest neighbouring towns are Woomera (87 kms due south) and Andamooka (30 kms to the east).

The Roxby Downs Scout Group has finally reformed in the township after a 12 year absence and I am proud to be a part of the group. However, without the enthusiastic support, help and drive of the Youth Leaders and Parent Support Committee supporting myself as the Group Leader, this group would still be a dream.

Currently the group is housed at the Local Community Church Hall, where we hold the Youth meetings on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. We are at the moment trying to source a new permanent home for the group that can be used as another large community venue for other local groups.

We currently run 4 sections of scouts which include Joey’s, Cub’s, Scouts and Venturers. Currently the group in total numbers 65+ youth members and we have a waiting list of youth to join the group in Joeys, Cubs and Scouts. Our Venturer group has only been up and running for 3 months and there is still room for more members to join. We started the group in September of 2006, so most of the Youth Leaders, like myself are reasonably new to scouting. We are after more adults that wish to join us in becoming youth leaders and parent assistant leaders. Without the adults and their commitment to the group, there would be no Scouts.

Very soon we are making the step into the scouting area of JOTA and JOTI (Jamboree of the Air and Jamboree of the Internet), so if you are on the air or internet look out because the Scouts from Roxby Downs are heading your way. We are also hoping to plan and run a community billycart or pushcart race in the township and invite other local groups to join us and have some fun.

To the guys at Adelaide SA Scout HQ for their guidance for the group and last of all to the Yankalilla and the Kilkenny/Croydon Scout Groups for the donation of equipment to our new group.
